It was a day much like any other I'd been through in that the sun still rose and set. Besides that, it was entirely different than every other day. The moment the sky turned orange and the television showed scenes of the destruction in other countries, we all knew the world was ending. Throughout our world, cities such as Delhi, Moscow, Paris and Brazil could be seen as blown into nothing. We would never have known it was them if it hadn't been for the newscaster telling us so. All that remained of each was a perfectly flat landscape with the orange sky in the background. It was after seeing the broadcast that we realized America was next now that we too had the orange sky.

Thinking back on it now, I honestly cannot remember how it all went down. The only thing I know is that only my family and I made it out alive, or so I think. I'm positive we must have died, but I woke up sometime later under a dark sky. Is this heaven? Or is it hell? Did we survive whatever happened to our world? My mind drew blanks to each of these questions, but I knew we needed to figure out what we were going to do fast because something was coming our way.
